Indru (m) oru paadal - 7

A.S.Dileep Kumar - transformed to A.R Rehman earlier, later transformed the whole Indian music composing style. He's simply a revolution thereafter. For close to two decades, Tamil film scores meant mostly Ilaiyaraaja. It was easy, he never really had any competition. And it was till A.R.Rehman was discovered by Manirathnam and Balachandar for the all time hit ROJA. The supreme irony: he used to play keyboards in Ilaiyaraja's orchestra. This track is from the movie 'Uzhavan', the whole film went unnoticed, I prefer to watch the movie atleast for its music tracks. Though all the tracks in the movie are splendidly composed, I have a special corner for this one, for its glib flow and the soothing mood it spell on you when heard. Adding to the likes of mine, my favourite SPBala and Chitra have rendered their soul stirring voices, delightfully. SP Bala joins late and he joins chitra who already had a stroll in the park. He somehow managed to preserve the same freshness in his voice from his track 1. Hats off to you Sir.

Rehman can be a called a rare discovery...

Indru(m) oru paadal - 6

makale,

I know I cant blog mentioning about IR, it's bound to happen sometime and it's now. I would say this track is a tablaa solo rather than male solo, IR scores here - hitting the right rhythmn and not make it too complicated by adding unwanted instruments. Malaysia Vasudevan's seasoned voice certainly lift the song. For the nostalgically-inclined, this track was a staple of Doordarshan for the 'Oliyum Oliyum' that occurred close to Diwali!

Enjoy listening..

Indru(m) oru paadal - 5

Shankar Mahadevan - one of the versatile, talented, multi dimensional personality that Indian Filmdom seen till date. Graduating in Engineering and eventually joining Oracle was probably the only 'regular' thing that Shankar did. But that too didn't last very long as he gave it up in further pursuit of music. This track is from the movie 'DIL CHAHTHA HAI', everybody would have heard this song, but I couldn't resist myself to refer it again in this series. Softly opening up with flute intervals and a moderately fast paced tune is "Kaise Hai Yeh Rut". The singing is aptly done by Srinivas. The flute intervals are excellently done essentially helping the track. Like the creator, the singer too deserves an equal accolade. When our Srinivas goes 'Kaise Hai Yeh Rut ke Jisme...', man I am lost ... It is a dreamy track with some imaginative lyrics by Javed and soulful composition by Shankar, Ehsaan & Loy.

Indru(m) oru paadal - 4

Vithyaasaagar - can be compared with Vikram, both very talented and may be that's the problem which took their time to emerge. Vithyaasaagar once an official music director for Arjun is now the renowned national award winner. This track is from the movie 'Sathurangam' , the factor which attracted me towards the song is the percussions tried here, drive you to a different mood altogether. 'Engae Engae' rendered by the popular Karthik and Timmy is nice and straight. The two singers dont experiment much as they stick to their basic and churn out a song which is good, but could have also been more better if they had chosen to innovate and improvise. BTW Can I say that ?

Indru(m) okka paatalu - 3

makale,

sunthara telunginil paatu isaithu.. yeah.. I go with Bharathiyaar, it's true that 'telugu' have a charming tag, my listening to telugu songs started from '04 since we have a sundaran in our home from Hyderabad. Within this 2 years I am more fluent than him when coming to listening songs. Let me introduce some good telugu songs here and there in this series. It doesn't happen often, getting a good melody with racy rhythms. 'china china vana kuyil, konji konji koovuthama' from Mouna raagam is one among them. SPBala & Chitra are all over the song here. SPB to me is 'man with God's voice', and telugu composers use him extensively than our music directors. I know shiva and priya listen to telugu songs, did you guys heard this song before.

a. Would you believe I bought the DVD of this movie for the Hero ?
b. This song is from the movie 'Athadu' starring Trisha, Hero? who cares for him?

Am I sounding nonsense..??

Indru(m) oru paadal - 2

Karthick raaja , though his talent is not frequently showcased in tamil filmdom, he certainly have it in his DNA. This song is from the movie Naalai, a romantic song, it has soft music with catchy lyrics accompanying them. Both karthick did splendid job here, the other karthick being the singer. This is right of karthik's alley, and also karthikraja's. Both have an intuitive flair for melody and lily. And it shows brilliantly in this simple number. karthick is so fluent as usual in the whole song but to mention 'da pa ma pa tha sa..' which comes in the interludes is simply superb. After that piece karthick raaja follows him, which is a step up. Karthick raaja - he holds the saying true puli ku piranthathu poonai aagumaa ?

Indru(m) oru paadal - 1

Let us start this new series.. Music is Magic. It makes you feel better, feel sad, feel whatever the composer wants us to feel. And if a track does that, it sits near to our heart. My heart allocated not less than 1 GIG of space till now, to accomodate those, and it's like GMAIL storage meter counting up everyday.

I see lot of promising youngsters budding up in tamil filmdom - you name the domain - composing, singing, directing, photography, everything... It's heathy, I would say. Vijay Antony deserves a mention in them. This film is his 2nd albumn, and he did it here. The talent pool is so large and the good thing is they dont dare to experiment nowadays. Now we have a new female singer introduced. Chaitra Gopinath and she sounds good.

By 2 ( yet to be released ) is certainly one among them - atleast in the papers. The film features only 2 characters, and when i heard the music albumn, the scale of the expectation scaled big in me. Lets wait and watch. Now coming to the songs, beautiful little melodies, hear all the three links, all share the same tune, but the lyrics give u totally different feel for each of them. Did i said music is magic ?

I am not the composer, so what i know how to enjoy !!

makale,

How about me hosting each song each day at meyyaram, most of them would be unheard or worth getting a second attention. what do ya say. ? If you want it, give me 'yes' ...

anbudan
srikanth

23 chromo of IR and 23 chromo of AR is HR

makale,

Song post pottu romba naal aachu. let me undo that and please be relaxed as this is not a puzzle. As I always say, one of my favourites , may be chennaites know this song but US & Spain vaasigal would have missed it, lemme host it for their welfare, ?!@#$, If I give the download link, am afraid how many of you click that. Hosting is better nowadays for our people, so click the play button and lemme borrow your ears for a while..

I would say HR possess 23 chromo of IR and 23 chromo of AR.

Legend :

HR - Harris Jeyaraj
IR - Ilaiyaraaja
AR - AR Rehman

An awesome composer, a dictionary would say that against his name, lived up to the expectations right from his first venture, minnale. The best thing abt HR is his soft numbers and his selection of voices. IR missed in this point, it was the time only 2 singers dominated the whole tamil filmdom. SPB and Janaki. Though they are the best, I would say IR really didn't tried different voices, the later R 's are doing it splendidly. This song is unique in sense 2 female singers Bombay Jaishree & Anuratha Sriram sung each paragraph each.

good varigal always attracted me.. so konjam athigamaa feel panni, lyrics um inge ezhuthiten.. mudinjaa padikavum..

makale,

learned the ban on the blogs in india is expiring soon. rediff article like the doctors say in tamil movies, the officials set 48 hrs to get this into effect.

Even though our blog isn't affected in anyway in the last 4-5 days i felt sad for the other fellow bloggers and finally now it's gonna be over.

There is a way around as there are always loop holes...

http://techbytes.co.in/experimental/bypass.php?url=http://meyyaram.blogspot.com

this link will get you to our meyyaram blog when clicked wherever from the world. irrespective of the ban, van, fan.....

Infact people (bloggers) opened a 'wiki' to discuss the solutions to bypass the ban....

I personally feel the whole ban logic is a pile of bullshit. I wonder how our officials think this wae, only to find my very close friend to support the ban. He got his own ideas, own logic, own bla bla bla...i dont want to interfere and say that his karuthu is wrong and my karuthu is right. Infact nothing is wrong in this world. He got his own freedom to express his feeling, and that's what i am urging to say, everybody got their own rights to do that. and in a democratic country like india if you put a ban to do that, then dont say India is a democratic country anymore. To contradict he who wants to express his karuthu dont want everybody to express theirs or atleast he wants the people to sacrifice this blogging cushion for the safety of India. If this is for genuine, we are all happy to do that. but this is like locking the window and keeping the door open. what it would serve ?

He's so worried abt India's safety that he prefer that these blogs should be banned if the officials feel india will be more safer if they ban the blog only.

If you research this ban issue...

Indian govt didnt banned all the blogs, they banned only few like Blogspot, typepad and someother domains ( I dont know what's the logic behind that, may be the so called outfits use only these blogs to communicate ) and they thought by banning these blogs these outfits would be left no choice only to vacate India. aren't there any other blogs these outfits could use from now onwards. will these govt officials will be closely watching all the posts and comment on the other blogs to find out this.

see, my question is this...

If you suspect these outfits use these blogs to communicate, instead of finding out what they are up to and nab them by reading them, would you ban the blog and wander in the canteen saying we banned SIMI and LeT.

I would be rather happy if this ban is a foolproof. These arivu jeevis know there is always thousands of way around to bypass the ban like we do, wont the outfits do the same way, it's not they do this because we found the way for them, the bypass is already existing. nobody found out the bypass or developed program to bypass it in this two days. then tell me what's the whole purpose in banning......

If you want to keep india safe, there are heap of constructive ways than banning the blogs, do that...

I asked him if SIMI and LeT use gmail or yahoo or whatever to keep the communication going, would you keep banning gmail, yahoo, hotmail and so on, his reply cleanly bowled me. His view is gmail, yahoo, hotmail they become very precious for communication nowadays ( to him and other people like him ) and these blogs according to his view is only to express the vetti ideas like we do, to show up our talent, to ask audio and logic puzzles and so on. may be he doesn't know the power of blogs. being the bloggers we know what's going in this blogsphere. I should ask him to visit blogswara once, to know what people are up to. He dont care about blogs as he's not using it.

Lets think is analogy... 1000 students studying in a school, and 10 students dont come to study there and use the school as the place for communicating their bad ideas. would you ban schooling in India. According to him gmail, yahoo, hotmail are like good schools and blogspot and typepad are bad corporations schools. Even then would you ban the bad corporation schools altogether. c'mon wake up, think mature deal with the 10 students not with the school..

It wont take the officials too much time to come up with a decision to ban google, gmail, yahoo, hotmail, then he may realize how stupid is the whole idea.

jeez save India from these officials first then from the outfits next... Hmph...

Card Games

I should not be talking about card games..for I have not even played the solitaire on the computer. There are times when there is nothing better to do when you have a lot of people visiting you....it might be too hot outside..it might be raining dogs..playing chess with so many people is not an option..if we think of going out ..may be not everyone will agree to the plan.(This has been the case with us all the time and we planned to go to the moon and ended up eating dinner at the terrace). There is nothing more entertaining than a pack of cards. But otherwise too card games are both entertaining and addictive. Well I have always seen our thatha (Swaminathan thatha) play solitaire a lot. He also used to understand the bridge game
that comes on the hindu paper. I have always been curious to know what that game is about. We all have played rummy, declare, war declare, theif - whatever u call it. But there are a lot of other card games that are popular around the world. Have you played russian rummy? I went to the library and got a book on card games. This book also has pictures..but I think my explanation will be fine and I wont need pictures to support (!). Try out these games if you didnt know already..

russian rummy - (a different version called rummikub in the US)
2 or more players - 2 packs of cards.
Deal 13 cards each. Keep fresh pile in the center. The top most card from the pile is opened.

Aim : Each player has to make 4 sets or MORE. Lets get to the MORE part later. First set you keep down "must" be a sequence of FOUR of same suit (2 spade,3 spade,4 spade ,5 spade) If you dont open your first set - you cannot keep down any other sets...(even if you have a three set 4,5,6 or you have a 4 set of 7777.

Only two sets like "8,8,8" , "2,2,2", "A,A,A" are allowed- that means essentially you can have only two non sequences and all the rest must be sequences.

BEST PART HERE IS : You can attach to other sets..say someone has kept A Q K J of spade. If you have 10 spade you can attach and say you are attaching to this one. Better to keep your own sets in vertical line - attached in horizontal fazhion..So you know you are attaching and others know. You can attach to an attached card. Say player 3 has 9 spade. He can attach it to the player2's 10 spade..

Your sets are kept down like this

A spade
K spade
Q spade
J spade
(Player A)

(Player B)
2 diamond
3 diamond
4 diamond
5 diamond
10 spade(Attached to A K Q J of player A)

HOW TO PLAY:
A player takes a card from fresh pile or discarded pile . Checks if he needs it and replaces that card with a card of his own OR throws the card back if he does not need it.(as usual stuff)

Whats different here is : The card that all the players discard will make another pile called discarded pile. This will be in the center too next to the fresh pile. But this pile has the cards open in a ROW..Same order that cards are discarded..
Any player can take cards from the fresh pile OR discarded pile. pile provided
1. it is the last card (so that means he takes this instead of opening the fresh pile)
2. He takes (ALL) the cards say for example ..starting from the card he needs and below..say he needs 8 spade and the discarded pile is like this
10 spade
5 diamond
3 diamond
8 spade
K clubs
Q hearts
2 diamond
He has to take all the cards 8 spade and below..
and make sure HE HAS to make a set with the 8 spade (if that is his first set he must make a 4 sequence set)
and he has to take 8,K,Q and 2 although he does not need those.

Here you see there is a chance that you can make more than 4 SETS with the remaining cards.

POINTS: When you make sets and keep it down remember anything starting from 10 and above 10,J,Q,K,A have 10 points each - the rest all have only 5 points.
When you finish if you dont make a single set (because you could not get your first 4 sequence) you get -80. For each card that remain in your hand -5 if they are below 10 , -10 if they are above.
The one who makes 500 and wins the last game that is equal to or above 500 is the winner.

INow I realize..it is hard to explain a card game. Please someone (I think srikanth has got cards - saw his latest photo and others also thos who have it) please try with these instructions and tell me if you are able to have fun..

You are a captive in a far away land. The king offers you you freedom if you can pass the following test:

You are to be placed in a room with two doors. Behind one door is a ferocious tiger, behind the other is your escape. 30 feet above each door is a window where a man is sitting. One man always tells the truth, the other is an incessant liar. You may ask only one question.

To ensure your safe passage, what should your question be?

makale,

This thread was initially intended to post a puzzle, but the whole idea behind asking puzzles is to remind people good songs, and this is certainly one among them. ( again, i felt the song is good, not have to be to e'bdy ) and at the same time have the risk of getting unnoticed in this kuthu era. when you have time, hear it.. the whole song is posted here..click the play button and that's all you have to do..

Logic Puzzle !!

There are five houses in a row and in five different colours.

In each house lives a person from a different country.

Each person drinks a certain drink, plays a certain sport, and keeps a certain pet.

No two people drink the same drink, play the same sport, or keep the same pet.

The Brit lives in a red house
The Swede keeps dogs
The Dane drinks tea
The green house is on the left of the white house
The green house owner drinks coffee
The person who plays polo rears birds
The owner of the yellow house plays hockey
The man living in the house right in the centre drinks milk
The Norwegian lives in the first house
The man who plays baseball lives next to the man who keeps cats
The man who keeps horses lives next to the one who plays hockey
The man who plays billiards drinks beer
The German plays soccer
The Norwegian lives next to the blue house
The man who plays baseball has a neighbour who drinks water.

Question

Who Owns The Fish?

I haven't tried it so I too dont know the answer, got this puzzle to my mailbox and the message said that 98 % who tried to solve could not solve this. Lets all try to prove that's wrong...start solving.

Answer:
The grey cells are the knowns. Some guess work (amd more elimination logic) will lead you to the answer. BTW I did not double check. Let me know if my answer is wrong!?

enoda answer...

the question says...

"The green house is on the left of the white house" but it doesn't say it's immediate left or not. so i guessed this wae...
